Quantcast

A sister to three very different women, I have planned my fair share of baby showers. From the all girl pink theme to a Noah’s Ark boy themed shower, I thought I had planned it all. That was until my youngest sister decided she wanted and all organic theme baby shower, for what would be her second child. Somewhere along the way, she had reverted to an all organic lifestyle, leaving me with the grueling task of planning a baby shower around this “organic” theme. I had no idea where to start. From vegan food to invitations, I simply had no idea how to make this organic bay shower theme a success. Perhaps you fall into this category at this very moment and are looking for a way to somehow pull off a successful organic themed baby shower. Hopefully, the tips below will be as helpful to you as they were to me.

Organic Menu

Instead of trying to come up with an organic menu, ask mom to be what she would like to eat at her shower. This made things much easier on me. My sister requested salad tossed with organic dressing, nuts, and small slices of fruit. She wanted plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables grown locally and organically by a trusted vendor that she preferred. I also used organic ingredients to make a beautiful baby shower cake. She requested I make it myself to ensure that the ingredients where 100% all natural and organic. I topped the baby shower cake with loads of organic fresh raspberries which are her favorite.

Organic Theme

Choose to bring the organic theme into the décor of the shower. Instead of purchasing over the top, expensive “It’s a girl” signs, I chose to use things from nature to decorate for the event. I created centerpieces using raw natural materials such as freshly chopped wood, flowers, and stones. The freshly chopped wood scented the air and gave it a “woodsy” organic feeling. I also set up a nice water feature in the corner to make sure I had all the earth elements present at the shower.

Invitations

The invitations must include the word organic. I wanted to share with guests of the baby shower that the food and other elements would be organic. I used “green” invitations that were a little more expensive but well worth it to give my sister the organic shower she wanted. In the invitation, I also included a wish list of organic gift items that she desired. These included organic cotton onesies, cloth diapers, blankets, and burp rags. The list also included BPA free baby bottles and feeding equipment made from cornstarch. In the invitation, I also included a list of online marketers who sell organic baby products to make shopping easier and on each and every guest.

Organic Favors

Don’t forget the organic favors. My sister realized that shopping for an organic baby shower gift would be no easy task for her guests. So, to show her appreciation she requested that I find practical, organic favor to give to each guest. Organic lip balm and soap wrapped snuggly in a small basket made the perfect shower gifts.

Planning an organic baby shower is without a doubt a challenge. With the help of my sister, I was able to make it a success. It was beautiful shower and she was completely satisfied with the “organic” result.
