If you are one of my regular readers, you know that I talk a lot about nutrition, especially related to pregnancy and breastfeeding. I am passionate about it because it is so important to the health and development of our children.

Yet, it seems that nutrition is one of the biggest struggles of moms and moms-to-be. We are busy and we are dedicated to our lives and our children.

Grab-and-go nutritious snacks have become the staple food of health-conscious moms. We need snacks that we can eat when we’re headed out the door, when we’re in the car, and when we’re trapped on the couch during long nursing sessions.

That’s why, after looking at the ingredients and philosophy of the company, I agreed to review Credible Cravings Organic Snack Bars.

I also asked if I could give a bundle of snack bars to one lucky reader, so make sure you enter the giveaway at the end of this review!

Why I Love Credible Cravings

Credible Cravings Organic Snack Bars are a truly one of a kind snack bar made with only whole functional foods. There are no additives or artificial flavors, and no highly processed ingredients.

Not only does this company seek out real, whole food ingredients, but they do it in a way that is good for our bodies and our environment. They are 100% organic and certified gluten free.

Another surprising fact about these bars is that they contain probiotics in the form of GanedenBC30 Probiotic.

As you can see, Credible Cravings make a great on-the-go healthy snack, with whole grains, protein, and vital nutrients, plus probiotics to improve your immune system and digestive health. These are all very important things to a pregnant mom or nursing mother!

My Experience With Credible Cravings

Credible Cravings Organic Snack Bars come in 3 different flavors: Lemon Ginger Greens, Oatmeal Cranberry, and Chocolate.

I would best describe their texture to that of Larabars, as they are made with similar ingredients (namely Dates). However, the flavors of Credible Cravings bars are distinctly different and these organic snack bars incorporate sprouted whole grains in the mix.

My favorite flavor was Oatmeal Cranberry, but I also enjoyed the Chocolate flavor. My least favorite was Lemon Ginger Greens because it very clearly tasted of greens and wasn’t as sweet. Even so, it wasn’t entirely unpleasant and I could see myself eating it just to get the extra vitamins, as it contains significantly more Vitamins A and C.

These snack bars are not as sweet as other bars on the market, which is okay with me. They do contain sugars, but they are in the form of honey, blackstrap molasses, and organic fruits.

I was curious, so I compared the sugar content of a typical Larabar to that of Credible Cravings. Some Larabars contain up to 22g of sugar, while the highest sugar content of Credible Cravings bars is 16g in Oatmeal Cranberry. It’s still a lot of sugar, but considering that the sugar comes from whole foods, this is a healthy snack option in moderation.

7 Healthy Tips for Busy Moms

I asked Stephanie Baker of Credible Cravings to give her best tips for how busy moms can stay healthy. Here’s what she had to say:

1. Make your calories count

Every time you eat is an opportunity to nourish your body. Incorporate functional whole foods into your diet to provide your body with nutrients that fuel your lifestyle.

Pregnant or breastfeeding? Look for foods high in folate – such as spinach, kale, and quinoa – and other important nutrients for you and your little one, including iron and zinc. Calories devoid of nutrients do not help you optimize your health; in fact, they do just the contrary. There are hundreds of free apps that can help you track nutrient content and calorie intake.

2. Sleep 

Just because you’re a mother now doesn’t mean that you need less than 6-8 hours of sleep every night. Prioritize, cutting out some activities if you must, and do whatever it takes to get the required amount of sleep to stay healthy.

3. Put yourself on the calendar

If the kids have a scheduled play date, take this time to head to a yoga class. Not only will you leave feeling relaxed, you will be squeezing in a great workout that will give you a boost of confidence and energy. Not into downward dog? Schedule a few minutes to journal, walk, or stretch.

4. Get active

Motherhood can be stressful. Getting physical can help! Taking the stairs, even if that means lugging your two-year old with you, is a good start.

Physical activity signals to the brain to release endorphins, which can translate into numerous health benefits – less stress, better sleep, improved mood, greater self- image and esteem. By taking the time each day to be physical, you are giving yourself more than you know.

5. Pack a lunch

Even though school is out and it seems so much easier to swing into a fast food joint, don’t do it!

Preparing lunches at home allows you to be more intentional about your food choices and affords you control over what you are putting into your body. Many times, restaurants have hidden ingredients that can be unhealthy and packed with empty calories.

6. Join in on the dance party

If you have little ones, there is a good chance that you catch them getting down to the music in the car; don’t let this be the only place you boogie! Turn some music on and have an afternoon dance party. You will not only have a blast, but you will burn a few calories getting your heart rate up.

7. Obtain groceries with a strategy and a list

Stick to the perimeter of the store where fresh produce, proteins and dairy are found. Choose organic, especially for fruits and veggies that have a skin you consume. Organic frozen fruit and veggies are great to keep on hand for nutritious and delicious summertime smoothies.

  5. I would love to try any of them. As of now, I take my kid’s organic kids cliff bar bc they taste good & are reasonably priced to share! But it would be nice to have a bar just for me, lol!
