Quantcast

I received a Dinkledooz one-size pocket diaper thanks to Gogo Natural, an online retailer.  Dinkledooz come in seven bright colors, and the one that I received was orange with yellow snaps.

Immediately when I opened the package the first thing I noticed was how soft the diaper was.  Not only was the inside (micro-fleece) very soft, but so was the outside PUL.   I immediately prepped the diaper.  When it came out of the wash, it felt the exact same way.  No stiffness.

The diaper comes with two microfiber inserts: small and large sizes.  I put the large size in through the back opening (the diaper only has one) and folded over the flap.  I like the flap because frequently with pockets the inserts stick out the back after wrestling it onto your child.  Then you are forced to try and wrestle again as you tuck the insert back inside.  With Dinkledooz, the flap keeps the insert in.

I also love that the inserts come in two different sizes.  With many adjustable size diapers, you only receive one insert.  If your baby is using the small setting, you have to fold the insert in and end up with a lot of unnecessary bulk.  Having a small insert is nice.  You can also use the small insert along with the large insert to double up the amount of absorbancy.

The diaper comes in a three step rise system, has overlapping tab snaps for smaller babies, and it has three snaps on each wing to prevent wing droop.

The ‘Plumber’s Crack’ Test

I have two children in diapers.  My youngest is about 27 inches in height and 20 lbs in weight.  He’s six months old.  With a lot of diapers, the fit is wonky for him.  We often develop what I term “plumber’s crack” (also called “builder’s bum” or “buttock cleavage”) where the diaper sags down to where you can see his butt crack.  I end up having to pull his diapers up all the time.  I try adjusting the fit around his waist but then the diaper is on too tight around him.  I imagine “plumber’s crack” will disappear as he gets taller.

The Dinkledooz doesn’t give him “plumber’s crack” at all.  The fit is perfect for him.  The material is very stretchy, and the diaper itself is wide.  He has got plenty of room to get it around his chunky waist.

How did it stand up? Very well. No leaks or anything else. He didn’t poop in it, and neither did his brother so I couldn’t test for that.

The Nap Time Test

For his brother, I went all out.  I figured since my oldest doesn’t have issues with the fit of most diapers, this diaper should be perfect for day time use.  My oldest is two years old, approximately 33 inches tall and weighs only 27 lbs.  I call him my skinny mini.  Our problem with my oldest is nap or night time use.  For nap, I stuffed the Dinkledooz with it’s large microfiber insert and two hemp doublers (not included).

With pocket diapers, it is hit or miss.  Sometimes we won’t have leaks; sometimes we do.  Usually our bullet-proof method is a fitted with a hemp doubler.  My oldest, because he is a toddler, holds his bladder while he sleeps.  Upon waking up, immediately he releases his urine like a geyser.  While he doesn’t produce more urine than any other child, the problem is that most diaper materials do not absorb and wick the urine fast enough.  Therefore his shorts, shirt, sheets, etc. all get wet.

How did the nap time test go?  A not surprising fail.  The inserts were wet at the top, but not throughout.  The urine wicked through the front of the PUL and onto his shirt and the sheets.  Other parents who use pockets may find this diaper works very well for them during nap times.  My family will have to stick to fitteds.

Concluding Thoughts

This diaper is awesome and will work very well for our family as a daytime diaper for both boys and a possible night time diaper for my youngest (who doesn’t seem to have the geyser effect yet).  The colors are very bright, and the price is awesome: 14. 95 USD.

I will tell you that the diaper is made in China, but the company is reputable and guarantees their products.  When looking for a reputable diaper company, look for guarantees/warranties.  Knock-off diapers, often produced in China, will not have these.  Yes, there are diapers out there that are copies.  Dinkledooz will allow you to return their product unopened in original packaging for a year.  They also will replace any defective diaper within a year after purchase.  You can’t really beat that kind of guarantee.

They also take their products very seriously.  They really want feedback to insure that they have a quality product that customers love, and I love that about them.

I’d love to try out the Dinkledooz diapers because I’ve read great reviews of them and I am in love with their colors! Plus I love that they have a guarantee on their diapers. When companies stand behind their product like that it shows they put some care and consideration in the making. Those products are the ones I gravitate towards.
